World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of High Performance

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Statistics

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in earnings.

She received nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a new level".

Other WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus after the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after winning their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
