Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a different piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles court official ruled to block the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the killings, public individuals offered different reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing provocative statements that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics recently. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the statements as "disappointing" and implied they showed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an associate ought to have acted when the decision to comment on the death was made.
