British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world offered sympathy for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
