Three members of law enforcement perished and at least 15 additional individuals got wounded in what appears to be intentional blast caused by gas at a country home in northern Italy.
How It Happened
The explosion occurred as officers and emergency crews approached the residence close to Verona to carry out an eviction order for a brother and sister trio aged in their 50s and 60s.
All three officers killed belonged to the Carabinieri force.

One male and one female got detained at the location and another man who fled subsequent to the explosion was apprehended shortly later. All three have been taken to medical facility.
The explosion could be heard some 5km (3 miles) away and footage from the location revealed the property reduced to a heap of debris.
“This moment calls for sorrow,” stated the Minister of the Interior Minister Piantedosi, who mentioned that attempts had been made to remove the brother and sister trio in the earlier times.

The head of the Veneto area, the regional head, said the farmhouse was subject to an court order due to debts accumulated by the siblings.
Mediators had been assigned to speak to the siblings who had barricaded themselves into the house. When the Carabinieri arrived just after 03:00 (01:00 GMT), authorities think one of the siblings caused the blast.

A gas canister had been ignited, and the blast precisely impacted our officers,” he explained.
Petrol bombs were also located at the property, the interior minister stated.
Casualties and Damage
Injured individuals by the blast consisted of an additional 11 personnel of the military police as well as a trio of personnel of the state police and a firefighter.
According to the local prosecutor, the property was in a derelict state and had lacked electrical service.
He was convinced the detonation had happened on a floor above the doorway and informed reporters it was a “premeditated and voluntary homicide”. Shortly before the incident, he mentioned officers had “detected a whistling noise, likely the propane tanks being activated”.
